MISSION
To become the visible advocate and leader in providing for a comprehensive and coordinated continuum of services and opportunitites so that older people can live dignified, independent, and productive lives.
Service Area The Area Agency on Aging of Deep East Texas serves 12 counties - Angelina, Houston, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler. The region is 9,798 square miles of mostly rural communities. site map
Departments and Services
Care Coordination
The needs of people 60 years of age and older are assessed and linked to a variety of short-term non- medical services.
Caregiver Support
The needs of caregivers are assessed and referred to available support services.
Nutrition/Meals
Nourishing meals are served on site at our Local Facilities and/or delivered to home-bound seniors.
Benefits Counseling
Certified benefits counselors help seniors 60 years of age and older and Medicare beneficiaries of any age understand the benefits available to them.
Ombudsman
A trained case manager provides advocacy for residents of long-term care facilities and includes volunteers to protect and promote awareness of residents’ rights.
Information, Referral, and Assistance
Information and Assistance are provided to callers and will link them to the appropriate services and agencies available.
Evidence Based Programs
Evidence based programs provide older adults with the tools to maintain their health, reduce their risk of developing chronic diseases, and manage their health to live as independently as possible.
