Regional Youth Prevention/Community Watch The goal of the Crime Prevention/Neighborhood Watch program is to divert male and female youth from the juvenile justice system and to provide Neighborhood Watch programs to raise awareness of crimes and how to prevent them. The Crime Prevention Coordinator assists citizens through training, and coordination with local law enforcement, to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods In addition, the program will coordinate with schools and other youth serving agencies to educate youth about the penalties of crime, drug use, and ways that risky behaviors negatively impact educational attainment and job success. Tailored training presentations will be provided to school aged youth to promote character building and to educate them on ways to avoid involvement with gangs and crime related activities. These presentations will contain information on making good decisions, bullying and teasing, respect, self esteem, safety, peer pressure, etc. |
