Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents

WHY MENTOR?

In order to understand why you would like to be a mentor, you must understand what a mentor is.  According to the Random House Webster's College Dictionary, a mentor is  a wise and trusted counselor or teacher, and the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary calls a mentor, a person who gives another person help and advice over a period of time...

In our society, the parent influence on a child is great, but when the parent is incarcerated then there is no one to guide the child on the right path.  That is where you will come in.  By your words of encouragement and positive actions you will have a great impact on that young persons life.

The benefits of being a mentor is greater than one would think.  When we start looking as society and see all the immoral activity that is being displayed, one would ask how can we change the world.  The best solution in changing the world is to start small, one community at a time, one child at a time.  And if are wanting and willing to help these children whose main rudder (the parents) is not there to help steer them through life, please become their sail.  BE A MENTOR!
